the caw of the crow
awakens me from rest
pulling me with an earthbound sound
back to the conscious flow
my half-sleep slumber is disturbed
twice I feel it
vibrations in my mind
the waking world spills into my dream
I do not remember its images
but the call I answered in spirit
from that plane that appears
between wake and sleep
life and death
best heed the plea
of the corvid’s cry
