Venus silently gazes over my shoulder
bright, but soothing
even after all those miles
she gazes eternal while the sun slowly breaks
across the horizon with all it’s pastel-colored fanfare
she’ll graciously fade, but never disappear
Venus exudes her own light
it steadies and stills my mournful thoughts
in the quiet of early dawn
I stare for a moment
transfixed by the beauty of a star
burning me with awe
as if she
twinkles alone
so only I can see
from so far
