how does it feel to be alive today
to look up to the shiny aluminum sun
shower head
pouring rays of water down
wash and cleanse your body that’s
home to everything
your thick trunk, core where your heart resides
limbs that are perfecting with age, that carry you, hold you, hold others
your precious feet that root down and connect to the earth
hands like stars, moving, grasping, cupping, pointing
the way your neck and head, wet and dewy from tears and rain
grows your beautiful hair
the body lifts as you breathe in and out,
taking in small moments like they were the grandest
let the metal sun’s wetness flow over my body
it is an extension of the land
and of the stars
to feel each day,
and touch your aliveness.
